Hillsboro Community Care Day

Hillsboro Community Care Day is an annual event that Westport has taken part in for the last 3 years. The overall goal of the day is to be a tangible blessing to a specific school within the area. With budget cuts, many schools don’t have enough resources to keep the property of the schools maintained. We will come in for a Saturday morning and partake in all types of facilities maintenance to help beautify the school, so intern students are proud to come back the following year.

This year, Westport Church will be working at Hillsboro High School. There are many projects for us to tackle. The greatest need is the courtyard area. The school principle is concerned that the area has become unsafe. This area is severely overgrown with all sorts of vegetation and will need to be thinned out.  We will be meeting at Hill High on the morning of Saturday, August 29, 2009. Bring your gloves, tree clippers, rakes, wheel barrows, etc…

School Supply Drive

hccd-backpackposterAs part of the Hillsboro Community Care Day, churches throughout Hillsboro, along with Westport Church, will be collecting school supplies and delivering them to kids who otherwise couldn’t afford supplies. This is your opportunity to help. This year we will support high school students, grades 7th through 12th.

The following supplies are needed to fill each backup:

  • 1 1/2 or 2 inch zippered or velcro binder
  • Package of college ruled notebook paper
  • One package of dividers
  • Pencil pouch to go in binder
  • One box of 10-12 blue or black pens
  • 3 or more report covers

Please return all supplies with $5 to the church, by Tuesday, August 11, and Westport will buy backpacks, in bulk, and fill with the supplies received.
